<SI_Content>
Event will include three options: an Intermediate point to point course and 1-hour and 2-hour score-O events

The following courses and classes are offered:

·Intermediate - A 'point to point' course that is mostly on trails and about 2.6 km in length. A combination of controls on trails, and near trails. If possible, younger experienced forest orienteers should run with a partner (or be shadowed by an experienced adult). This is a good course for adults who have some orienteering experience in city parks and urban areas and know how to use a compass but are new to forest orienteering. This course is also suitable for people (such as CPTA members) who know the area well.

·2 Hour Score-O - A choose your own adventure Score-O course with a 2 hour time limit. There are 24 controls scattered about the map that you can visit in any order – but there is a time limit. Maps will be distributed at 10:50 so you can plan your route. Everyone starts at 11:00 and the more controls you get, the more points you get. But if you are not back to the finish by 1 pm, it will cost you. Scoring is based on the maximum number of points within the 2 hour time limit. All controls will be worth 10 points and each partial-minute late (after 1 pm) will cost you 10 points. To visit all of the controls a runner will likely travel at least the same distance (straight lime of about 5.5 km) and climb (about 350m) as the Day 2 Elite course at the May 21 Ioco event. Therefore some of the fastest runners may visit all of the 24 controls in under 90 minutes. Those running the 2 hour event should consider carrying water as NO-water will be provided on the course.

·1 Hour Score-O - A choose your own adventure Score-O course with a 1 hour time limit. There are 24 controls scattered about the map that you can visit in any order – but there is a 1 hour time limit. Everyone starts at 11:20 and the more controls you get, the more points you get. But if you are not back to the finish by 12:20, it will cost you. Scoring is based on the maximum number of points within 1 hour. All controls will be worth 10 points and each partial-minute late will cost you 10 points.

Course Notes - Much of the map is runnable open forested terrain, with rich contour, marsh and rock features. Many of the mapped streams are low or dry. There are many areas with short sections of un-mapped trails and these are usually mapped as white forest. In some places the mapped trails have debris covering short sections of the trail.

Power Lines are NOT Mapped

To avoid cluttering the map, the overhead Power lines are NOT mapped. The Big/high steel power poles are mapped. Wooden power poles are NOT mapped.

All of the Maps on August 30th will be at a map scale of 1:7500 with a 5-meter contour interval.

Sunday August 30th schedule:

10:10 – Earliest time to enter access gate to parking lot.

10:30 – Registration opens to confirm SI number and course. Coaches available to help people on the Intermediate course or those new to score orienteering.

10:50 - Maps distributed for 2-hour score-O participants.

11:00 - Mass start for 2-hour score-O

11:10 - Maps distributed for 1-hour score-O participants.

11:20 - Mass start for 1-hour score-O

11:20 and later - Time punch starts for those on the Intermediate Course.

12:20 - All 1-hour score-O runners should be back to the Finish, or they will lose 10 points per partial minute late.

13:00 - All 2-hour score-O runners should be back to the Finish, or they will lose 10 points per partial minute late.

13:00 - Course closure for people on the Intermediate Course.

If you want to spend more time on the map, you can volunteer to help pick up controls. rather than coming back late.
</SI_Content>
